How to get perfect mid-summer hair
Nothing says summer like dark roots, light mid shaft, and bleached out ends. "I spent the summer on the beach," it says, "I lounged on a surfboard in the Pacific all day, errrrr day." Sloppily tied in a top knot or framing a smooth tanned face, summer hair is everything. Want to keep your summer hair perf until back to school? Here's a short list of stuff to do and things to avoid. You're welcome.
Do This: See your stylist regularly for shape maintenance. Keeping your ends trimmed will protect the more fragile lightened strands, preventing ugly split ends.
Don't Do That: Skip appointments in favor of staying by the pool for another hour. Skipped appointments can lead to longer wait times in between haircuts, leading to split ends and not-so-pretty locks.
Do This: Protect hair from damaging UV/UVB rays with a color protect leave-in product (especially if you have red hair which is much more sensitive to sun's harmful rays).
Don't Do That: Ignore the reality of sun damage and how it impacts the condition of your hair.
Do This: Hydrate regularly. Get two for one protection by using a hydrating, color protecting leave-in conditioning product. Smooth through your hair, tie it into a top bun, and let the sun redeem itself by providing the heat that will allow the product to penetrate the hair shaft.
Don't Do That: Skip conditioner or skip pre-sun hydrating opportunities. Trust us, no one will be looking at your "greasy roots" because they'll still be obsessing over how amazing your hair looked last night when you guys went out.
